Assessment and Evaluation
General psychological assessment and evaluation services required for a variety of reasons can be provided. Assessment batteries are specifically designed depending on the purpose of the assessment and assessment questions. Typical assessment tools employed include intelligence tests, academic achievement tests, diagnostic interviews, computerized structured interviews, behavior observations and checklists, and a variety of projective measures. Forensic Assessment
Forensic assessments are provided when FITNESS TO STAND TRIAL or SANITY determinations need to be made. Dr. Jewell has experience as a court ordered evaluator in cases where the defendant is a minor. When court dates are scheduled quickly, Dr. Jewell is usually able to complete the assessment and provide a written report to the court on a short time schedule (within a week sometimes). Risk Assessment Risk assessments are provided when there is a question as to the risk to self or others regarding a minor. When students make statements that may reflect homicidal or suicidal intention, schools may require a psychological evaluation (risk assessment) before the child can return to the school. In these cases, Dr. Jewell can provide these assessments quickly and affordably. Learning Disability Assessment
As both a Certified School Psychologist and Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of Illinois, Dr. Jewell can serve as an independent evaluator, to be contracted by a school district, when an independent evaluation is required to determine whether a child has a learning disability. ADHD Assessment When a child is suspecting of having ADHD, Dr. Jewell can provide a comprehensive evaluation in order to make that determination. This evaluation usually includes an on-site classroom behavior observation as well as other assessment strategies and tools that reflect best-practice procedures required for a valid diagnosis. |
